Spring a springing

While lockdown trundles on, I can confirm that spring is springing! It’s getting a bit warmer (though, admittedly, not by much! I still need a jacket on my daily walks) and the very first blossoms are starting to appear. They have very much been missed. 🌸

It’s mad to think that this time last year, we were still in our offices, I was still being sent out on jobs, still going to the gym and to restaurants with my friends, whom I hugged without a second thought. We were still unsure about what the coronavirus was and how seriously to take it, and weren’t spending that much time thinking about it to be honest. Within two weeks we were working from home and shortly after the country went into lockdown, and I haven’t set foot in the office since.

Even though the sight of blossoms could feel quite depressing if you looked at it’s now a year on and we’re still in lockdown – I’m getting great comfort from their arrival. Spring is coming, and with it warmer weather, the prospect of meeting more humans outdoors – more time outdoors generally – and picnics, more sunshine, spring clothing and pastel colours, and life feeling more like life again. ✨

For now though, it’s still picnics at home. Like literally in bed. πŸ˜…

(Anyone else contemplate life while drinking tea? Nope, just me?)

Well to that end, I got a very lovely delivery from Le Montmartre catering – their Mother’s Day afternoon tea box! (kindly gifted).

It comes with a bottle of non-alcoholic rosΓ© Prosecco, six scones, six different tea bags, a pot of clotted cream, six little jars of strawberry jam, two long-life roses, a greetings card, and a lavender bag.

The idea of an afternoon tea at home is a lovely one, and you can make it work even if you don’t have that much to spend. Scones are surprisingly easy to make / really cheap to buy, grab a jar of your favourite kinds of jam and some fancy tea, and a generous helping of proper clotted cream and you’re good to go. I would even throw some cucumber finger sandwiches (a classic!) into the mix – it’s guaranteed to go down well.

But if you wanted to go this route, you can order the Mother’s Day afternoon tea box from Le Montmartre Catering for Β£29.90 (including shipping) here.

Even though me and my family ate everything in the box today πŸ™Š, we’ll definitely be recreating it for Mother’s Day next Sunday. One thing’s for sure, they’ll be scone in a second! x
