Quick escape to Oxfordshire

Last weekend I made a brief escape to the country to visit a bestie. It always makes me so happy to catch up with my friends and to know that, even with so much going on in everybody’s lives at the moment, there’s always time to spend these times together.

We went for a leisurely mooch around Christ Church, taking in the meadow and riverside.

Before posting up at Victors, a delightful rooftop bar and restaurant, which I think would be ideal for a special occasion like a birthday or hen do!

Wisteria hysteria!
Kiss and candy + Social butterfly
My crab and yuzu tacos – Devon crab, wasabi mayonnaise, avocado
Pistachio cheesecake
My English country garden cocktail

We meandered around the shops looking for occasion outfits, new underwear and sunflowers – all of which were found. Then headed back home for a quiet night in watching Love Island and hot chocolate.

The next day we had a slow morning at the flat with homemade porridge, before heading out for a delightfully scenic walk around The Clumps in Little Wittenham!

Does this remind you of Macbeth or is it just me?!

We wandered into the surrounding woodland too, very much Enid Blyton vibes. We even saw a stoat! I’d never seen one in real life before. And a teeny tiny baby frog!!

After a couple of hours of walking, we had built up quite an appetite, so headed over to The Barley Mow for the ultimate comfort food – a Sunday roast.

Isn’t it adorable?! And the roast was wonderful. I had the trio – comes with roast beef, pork and smoked turkey, with all the trimmings.

The trio of roasts – a dinner of kings!
